These heavy emotions — guilt, fear, and shame — stem from the core misunderstanding:

 

 

 

 

“I am the body and mind.”

 

But Vedānta reveals:

 

I am sat–cit–ānanda — pure existence and consciousness and bliss — untouched by any distortion of the mind.

 

 

 

 

🕳️ Tamasic Nature as the Root of Repetitive Behavior

 

The compulsion to pick and/or to zone out and/or to self-soothe through unconscious habits is rooted in tamas, the guna (quality) of:
